If you manage a home based network marketing business, generating leads is a super important aspect of your daily tasks. You will find an enormous amount of methods and strategies for attaining leads, but getting the leads is not the only important aspect…
You MUST manage the leads correctly too
I suggest that you stay abreast of the blog posts here at Rocket Recruiting as we will be “feeding” you with “gobs” of valuable information on all aspects of leads.
In this post, I am going to explain what a lead is and tell you some basic lead generation strategies.
What is a lead?
This is where many new network marketers are confused. I have discovered that the common thought is that prospects and leads are thought of as the same thing.
That is false!
A prospect is a person who, for the biggest part, knows nothing of your company, your brand and your products. A prospect is the person you can develop into a lead.
A lead is a person who has shown some form of interest in your company, brand and products in some way.
So lead generation is
a process of attracting prospects into showing that form of interest in the business, and attaining that person’s contact information and any other helpful info to help guide the lead into doing business with you.
The old days of high pressure sales are gone. In those days, everyone was a prospect and every single person was a lead.
It just takes a slight interest to determine that a person is a lead:
- The person may fill out an application or form to receive more information.
- They may use a coupon.
- Or they may respond to content you have generated in the form of a comment or share.
Do not disqualify leads by assumptions
This is a common mistake for marketers and salespeople.
A person shows interest but you decide to not contact this lead because of discriminatory assumptions. Maybe they live in a low income area or they do not “fit” within the average consumer.
Let me just say that you need to carry through with the process and allow the qualifications to be determined in the sales funnel process.
Again, we will delve further into these areas in future posts.
Let’s now look at some lead generation strategies.
Lead Generation Strategies
There are many ways to generate leads both online and offline.
I suggest you find one that appeals to you and use it and keep track of results. As you perfect that strategy, you can add other strategies. But keep track of results and make adjustments as needed.
Lead Generation Strategy #1: Wear It
Many network marketing companies have added apparel that independent representatives can purchase and wear.
Carry a pad with you and as people ask you about your shirt, hat or other item, you can generate a lead. Just take their contact information and boom, you have a lead.
Lead Generation Strategy #2: Video
Statistics show that product explanation videos gain great lead generation rates.
Just simply link your capture page or put a phone number (sizzle line) at the bottom of the video. Be sure and have a strong call to action at the end of the video.
Lead Generation Strategy #3: Snail Mail
Many marketers have discovered that using simple postcard marketing is a excellent way to develop leads.
While many people will just “glaze over” emails, nearly everyone will read the mail that comes in the box.
If your postcard generates even a slight bit of interest, they will visit the website or call the number.
Lead Generation Strategy #4: Make Your Content Downloadable
When people visit your blog, they are usually just scanning for information. These people may find your information valuable but they do not have the time to read it. And they often forget about it.
If you offer a download of the content in exchange for their email, you have a lead.
Lead Generation Strategy #5: Trade Shows And Events
There are many creative ways you can use events and trade shows to generate leads. You could give a free sample for contact info or even have a drawing sign up.
Many entrepreneurs have found trade shows and events an excellent lead generation resource.
Capturing and Managing All Those Leads
Through the years, I have found many network marketers who are good at generating leads but they “fall down” on managing those leads and following up with them.
If you do not stay “timely” with those leads, they will travel to your competitor.
I recognized this issue and decided it had to be solved. The result of that became Rocket Recruiting where you have all you need to generate leads and manage those leads.
