It is a question that can lead to huge debates, are network marketers entrepreneurs?
There are an abundance of people who will say no immediately. They exclaim that network marketers are more on the line of franchise owners because their system has already been developed.
I would have to agree to disagree to a certain extent.
While the network marketer has stepped into a system already developed, they are often tasked with developing a unique system that fits their “mold.” While they should use the systems and tools given them, they need to adapt it to fit their personality.
Franchise owners don’t need to do that!
The man or woman who has franchised a Burger King, McDonalds or KFC does not have to adapt anything to fit their personality. They run that system the exact way the company says.
So that is my opinion… Network marketers are, for the most part, entrepreneurs.
But does the definition or the title really matter?
Network marketers ARE business owners.
That is the most important fact!
So if you want to add your opinion at the end of this post, I welcome it. But for now, I am going to give you 7 obvious signs that network marketers are entrepreneurs.
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #1: They Take Action
The key to success for entrepreneurs is action. The same is true for network marketers.
Planning is wise but if you have no action, you will have no results.

Maybe you don’t have a perfect plan yet but if you are taking action, you are running the race of success.
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #2: They Have Passion
When you are passionate about your products or services, you will emit that energy that entices others to join you. They will feel the passion and will want to have what you have.
Passion is another key ingredient for both network marketers and entrepreneurs.
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #3: Many People Think They Are Crazy
If we look closely, people talk behind the backs of entrepreneurs and network marketers…
- What did he get into now?
- She is so flaky?
- Don’t they know how to get a real job?
- Etc…
Yep, Aunt Sally, Uncle Bill and the neighbors who don’t like your maple tree all have this idea you are crazy. But they are also wondering how you can afford to drive a new Mercedes and take vacations every 2 months to exotic locations.
Being Loco can be wonderful!
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #4: Taking Risks Have Always Been In Their Blood
When I look closely at successful entrepreneurs and successful network marketers, there seems to be a huge percentage that have been the risk takers from the day they were born.
- The one to climb the tree the highest.
- She dived into the deep end and did not know how to swim.
- He was the first to slide down the huge mountain on the sled while others balked.
- Etc…
Business of any kind carries risks. But you know how to measure those risks and take the best approach to drive the odds in your favor.
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #5: Their Dreams Seem Unreachable
Network marketer… Entrepreneur… Ask them about their dreams and you will probably choke on your coffee.
While others are thinking a home with a white picket fence, they are thinking a castle in Scotland with 70,000 acres of pasture.
And Aunt Sally dreams of owning that new Prius, but her crazy nephew dreams of a custom Ferrari.
And many of these entrepreneurs/network marketers DO achieve those unrealistic dreams!
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #6: They Enjoy Helping Other People
Both entrepreneurs and network marketers know that the path to their own success is by helping other people succeed.
If you are a person that likes helping other people, you may do well as a network marketer/entrepreneur.
Are Network Marketers Entrepreneurs Sign #7: They Consider ROI On Everything
ROI stands for Return On Investment. Entrepreneurs are always measuring what the ROI will be when the spend money or time. What will be the return?
You know, network marketers do the same… So they MUST BE entrepreneurs.
Conclusion
So for those of you who do not consider network marketers entrepreneurs, how would you answer the similar characteristics they must have to succeed?
