Today, we are going to touch on an area that many network marketers have a deep-seeded fear of… Cold Calling.
The fear is rejection, but I must first tell you that rejection is a normal part of sales and network marketing. It is something you must learn to accept.
One important tip that I can give you is to understand that the person is not rejecting you, they are just rejecting the opportunity or product.
If you are adamant about growing your network marketing business, cold calling should become a part of your overall plan of action. And by following these 5 cold calling tips, you will have success.
Cold Calling Tips #1: Educating Is The Best Method To Keep People Attentive
Cold calling is really no different than writing a marketing blog post. You want to educate and the selling will essentially take care of itself.
So when you write a cold calling script, be sure to load it with education and then explain how your product or business “lives and breathes” the educational material you are supplying. And, like the blog post, have a call to action.
Cold Calling Tips #2: Research The Prospect Before Calling
It is really quite easy to find out more about a prospect before you cold call them. There are several places you should look:
- Google search their name
- Search on Facebook
- Etc…
Once you find the person’s profiles, just get to know them a little better. If they like a certain sport’s team, music, hobbies, etc…, you can use that information as you talk with them.
Cold Calling Tips #3: Do Not Multitask While Cold Calling
This is extremely important; the temptation may be powerful to open your emails or type a letter while you are cold calling.
Don’t do it!
You need to pay close attention and just as if you were speaking to the person face to face, they can tell if you are not giving them your full attention.
Cold Calling Tips #4: Own The Conversation
When prospecting face to face with people, we often say you should listen more than you talk. In most cold calling cases, it is the complete opposite.
Now, I am not saying to be a “wind bag,” but you do need to own the call. You need to keep their attention and give the person a reason to stay on the line and also a reason to agree to a full presentation.
If the person tries to take the conversation off course, simply acknowledge what they said and come back to the reason you are calling.
Cold Calling Tips #5: Mention Common Connections
In many cases, your prospect is connected on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter or another social site with an influencer you are also connected with.
Use that as a part of your script!
You are probably familiar with (Eric Tippetts, Ray Higdon, Todd Falcone, Etc…). Well I was mentored by (the influencer) and ….
You get the point. By using popular influencers, you will gain more attention.
Conclusion
I have 2 more tips:
- It takes practice, so don’t get discouraged if you get rejected. Keep pressing on.
- Take regular breaks from the phone. It will help you get a renewed energy.
I have one other thing to mention… You can get leads that are waiting for your call.
