While the majority of content here at Rocket Recruiting is geared toward people who already have a MLM home based business, I do know that people considering starting a network marketing business read our blog too.
Today, I am writing a post to help those who are considering their home based business options.
Multilevel marketing is a great choice! But as with any business, it takes hard work, dedication and you do need to have a passion for the products or services you sell.
Jumping at the first opportunity without an understanding of what you are getting into can be a recipe for failure.
Here are 4 questions you should ask before joining a MLM opportunity…
Question #1: Do The Company Leaders Have Integrity And Strong Morals?
This is a question you need to ask yourself and then you need to research the answers.
Google is the best place to start!
Just start looking at the background of the primary leaders of the company.
- Have they been involved with other companies and why did they leave?
- Are there any legal red flags you can see?
- What does their social pages say about them?
- Etc…
Question #2: Can I View The Company’s Income Disclosure Statement?
This question should be directed toward the person who is attempting to recruit you. If they balk at the question, you should raise your yellow caution flag.
Now keep in mind that when you do receive the disclosure statement, MLM is well known with having a large percentage of people not making money. This can be for several reasons…
- They assumed the work would be done for them and they are not trying.
- Many are just customers and have no intention of building the business.
- Products or services are priced too high in comparison to other products that are similar.
- Sponsors are not training recruits correctly (or at all).
- Etc…
The main idea is to see the average income per level.
This document can help you see the possibilities from a realistic standpoint.
Question #3: How Long Has The Company Been In Business?
Okay, I do not want to shoot down new MLM companies. They all had to start somewhere and there is nothing wrong with joining a young company.
What you do need to know is the odds of failing are much higher with young MLM companies than the MLMs that have been in operation 5+ years.
If you are considering a new company, be sure to look deep and make sure it is a risk you are willing to take.
Question #4: How Much Money Will I Have To Pay To Get Started?
I cringe when I read a post about a network marketing opportunity that says it costs nothing to get started. And when we look at the fine print, we find that a person has to purchase $300 worth of products to be able to make any commissions.
If you are trying to recruit using this method, please stop. You are not helping your business or the MLM industry by using this system.
There is always an investment to start a business. To start a home based MLM business, you should have to invest something. What other type of business can you start without investing some money?
So most MLM companies get you started with, a starter kit for a certain amount of money. And normally, you will have to purchase a certain amount of personal product each month.
Your sponsor should be completely upfront immediately about costs, especially when you ask this question. If not, wave that yellow caution flag.
I also want to interject here that if you are serious about building a solid business, you will want to invest in 3rd party tools. Rocket Recruiting is a 3rd party tool that can help you build that business fast and strong… Using the training and recruiting tools we provide, you will have an advantage many others don’t.
Conclusion
There are many other questions you may want to ask…
- Will you help me? (to the sponsor)
- Are the products good and prices fair?
- Will I do the work needed?
- Will my spouse/family support me?
- Etc…
The point I want to make is, ask questions! It is reasonable and if a person trying to recruit you balks at questions, they need to either be retrained or the business is unstable.
So recruiters, you can learn from this too. Expect and welcome questions. It actually frightens me if a prospect doesn’t ask some questions.
I hope this helps you because our goal here is to help MLM business owners rise
