It is a question that comes up often in the network marketing circle: Is it wise to build 2 completely separate MLM home based businesses?
Before I go further, I must tell you why I made sure to put completely separate in the prior sentence. Most network marketing companies have strict rules that state representatives cannot be a part of another MLM company that is a direct competitor. This cuts down the possibilities of having more than 1 home based network marketing business drastically.
But what if one company is geared toward nutrition and another sells energy services?
If you search this subject in the almighty Google or your favorite search engine, you are going to find a variety of answers. But the most prevalent answer will be No, you should not try to manage 2 MLM home based businesses.
Why do experts say it is a bad idea to attempt to manage 2 MLM home based businesses?
First and foremost, how can you focus on building a huge business when you are veering from one or the other?
Yes, some traditional business owners have more than 1 business, but if you look closely, they have trusted people managing certain aspects of one or more of those businesses.
Normally, in network marketing, we don’t have the ability to have other people “run” the business for you. They would just start their own MLM business.
It gives the impression that you are unprofessional
When people realize you are promoting more than 1 MLM, it gives them the sense you are unprofessional.
It gives your downline the okay to do the same which will hurt your business
How will you feel when you discover one of your recruiting rockstars is putting half their time into another business where you get no benefit?
Now, how does your sponsor feel?
How Ray Higdon Equates This Interesting Question
My friend and partner Ray Higdon has a great way of telling us why 2 or more MLM businesses is not a good idea.
He describes a preacher trying to grow his church into a mega church; but each week, he preaches at one church at 9AM and another at 1PM.
He may grow the congregations of both churches, but he will never make one a mega church. And congregants are bound to get frustrated that he is not giving 100% to that church.
Those who say you can
I also studied the situations where some are pro multi MLM companies.
Sure, it could be done. Especially if you are promoting 2 companies that compliment each other…
- Exercise – Weight Loss
- Plus sized clothing – Chocolates
- Etc…
But for the most part, you are best focusing on one MLM business.
Does this mean you can’t have multiple streams of income?
This is where many get confused… Of course you can have multiple streams of income.
You promote 1 MLM business; you can be affiliated with other non-MLM companies and run ads on your blog; you could have rental property; maybe you want to manage a few vending machines.
There is nothing wrong with multiple streams of income.
Conclusion
We can help you build your MLM and offer you another stream of income.
That’s right!
