If you were to poll 50 people and ask what the difference is between extroverted and introverted, my prediction would be that over 90% would tell you that extroverted people are outgoing and introverted people are shy.
While that may seem correct, truth be told, the extroverted person gets their “strokes” from outside and the introverted person gets them from inside.
When you look at the definition in this way, it is my opinion that people are not completely introverted or extroverted; they have some of both but people tend to have larger percentages of one or the other.
I am not writing today’s post to go deep into how introversion or extroversion operates. What I am doing is providing some tips for prospecting, recruiting and sales for the introverted network marketer.
Do know that there are many people who lean toward the introverted side who have built huge network marketing businesses. They did so by following many of the tips I am giving today.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #1: Blog
If you get exasperated by being around people and trying to share your message, you just may have a strong introverted side.
You CAN still get your message across.
By blogging!
And if you do it correctly by adding a call to action, lead capture page and your unique proposal, you can build a huge network marketing downline.
Yes, at some point you will have to talk with the person face to face or over the phone, but it won’t be a group of people and you will have already made your point. And you can simply share training materials to help the person grow his/her business.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #2: Look For Extroverts To Recruit
They say opposites attract!
Whether that is completely true or not is questionable. But I will say that by recruiting extroverts, you will make your business building job much easier.
You can share your strengths and talents to help each other grow and build a huge business.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #3: Use Your Top Strength… Listening
You can usually determine the extroverts and introverts in any group of people just by watching. The extroverts are usually the talkers and the introverts are listeners.
Again, I don’t believe people are 100% extroverted or introverted, but they have higher percentages of one or the other.
So if you are heavily introverted, use those listening skills to your advantage. In many cases, the talking extrovert will tell you how to recruit them.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #4: Challenge Yourself
It will be hard at first, but take the step and start just talking with strangers. Start small…
- How is your day going?
- You have beautiful hair, what shampoo do you use?
- Where are your from?
It is a challenge, but after you start doing small talk you will gradually build into having deeper conversations.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #5: Focus On Educating
Instead of thinking you are recruiting or selling, put your mind into the level of being a teacher. Educate the person. Teach them something that will help them solve problems.
This will take your mind off potential rejection and put it on the fact that you are helping another human being learn.
The Introverted Network Marketer Tip #6: Get Coaching
Network marketing is a never ending learning process. I suggest you search out an introverted person who has been successful at network marketing and seek their mentorship.

Conclusion
There are many successful network marketers who are quite introverted.
Don’t let it stop you!
And don’t assume that lack of confidence means you are introverted. Confidence can be strong or weak with introverted or extroverted people.
The best way to build confidence is to follow the Nike tagline… Just Do It!
As you practice prospecting, recruiting and selling, you will build confidence.
